Advice from Millionaires: Don’t get stuck on this step! Offering value to customers is way more important than having “the perfect name”. You can even use your name, (first name last name, LLC) to start with and change the business name later.
You’ll need a unique business name. You can check if it’s unique by:
- Googling the Name
- See if the Website is Available, but don’t buy it quite yet.
(I recommend getting a .com over a .biz, .photo, or others since .com’s still have the most customer trust) - Do a Trademark Search
- Do a business search in your state’s Secretary of State Website

Think about it as the business owner: If you have a million dollar business in 3 years, can you afford to hold yourself up for weeks, months, or years? You can always change your business name and logo later on and it’s way less costly than getting stuck on the perfect name.
Think about it as a customer: If a restaurant called DooberKnuckle Cafe is down the street from you and they make your favorite meal for a killer price, you’re going to be eating at DooberKnuckle all the time!
